Overview and Build Features of XROS 3

Vaporesso XROS 3 is made out of Aluminum and has a powerful internal battery. This device comes in two types of color schemes. One type has a gradient paint job while the other type has a solid color. XROS 3 is a light weight device and weighs around 45.7g. It has a fire button with a different shape. It has got a little cut out in the center which feels quite nice. You also have an LED light indicator at the lower edge. It has a Type-C port on the bottom and on the sides it has little airflow holes just below the pod. These are supplemented by more airflow and you have an airflow control on the front. Taking a closer look of the sides, you will notice that it has an indentation along both sides. All in all, Vaporesso did a good job on this new XROS device.

Dual Intake Airflow Control

Basically, the airflow control on this device has a larger hole and a smaller hole enabling you to fully adjust your airflow. You can choose to close the bigger hole all the way and leave that smaller hole open. You can even start to close down that smaller hole if you would like. The airflow hole of the XROS 2 has a teardrop shape while this new version has two separate air intake holes in the controller.

Pods Specifications – Morph Mesh and CoreX Technology Coils

Vaporesso XROS 3 has a magnetic pod that attaches really nice to the device. You need to pull the sticker off at the base of the pod before initial use. The pod that’s pre-installed is the new 0.6-ohm mesh pod and the spare pod is of 1-ohm. These pods are compatible with other XROS devices. But these new ones, the 0.6-ohm and the 1 ohm, they have their CoreX technology and the coil heads are designed in a unique way. Basically the mesh is shaped with different size holes and different thicknesses depending on where it sits on the cotton because the tension on the cotton is not the same throughout. Basically the holes and the mesh are made to match up with where the tension is at on the cotton inside. The cotton inside the coil is called Morph Mesh and the coils are called CoreX. They say that their COREX heating technology along with unique Morph Mesh structure ensures rapid and even heating. The coils last a long time and you can get very nice performance off of these.

Filling the Pod and E-liquid Capacity

The pods of XROS 3 are top fill and filling is really easy. Simply crack the mouthpiece to a side to expose the filling port. It is covered with a red membrane and you need to stick the nozzle of your e-liquid bottle in it to fill. This pod has an e-liquid capacity of 2ml. After filling, put the mouthpiece back on and let it sit for 5 to 7 minutes in order to get the cotton saturated inside.

Turning the XROS 3 On

After priming, install the pod in the device. The pod can go either way in the device, that’s an interesting feature of XROS 3. Click the fire button 5 times to turn the device on or off. You have a little LED light indicator down below the button at the base. This will also indicate your battery charge level. There is no way to disable this fire button. Some actually wish that they would have done that in this version 3, so that you can disable the fire button and just use it in draw activation mode.

Comparing Vaporesso XROS 3 with XROS 2 – Pods Compatibility

If you compare XROS 3 with the previous version, it’s not that much different than the version 2 but there are some differences on inside of the device. It has their new Axon chip, a pulse mode, CoreX technology in the new pods, SSS leak resistant and it has the new 0.6-ohm RDTL pod that can also be used for mouth to lung vaping. If you place the version 2 beside version 3, you will see that the version 3 is just a little bit taller. The airflow patterns are different, it’s a teardrop design on version two while this new version 3 has two holes. Sides are a bit different, the bases are also different. This new one has a metal cap and the older one has a plastic cap at the base. But it’s still fairly close to the last one. An interesting feature is that the pods are interchangeable. Thats really very nice and convenient for many users. The shape of the mouthpiece of the newer pods is a bit different and more contoured on the edges.

XROS 3 vs XROS 3 Mini and Caliburn A3

XROS 3 mini has 1000 mAh battery but it does not have an airflow controller and any buttons. The mini has airflow holes on both the sides without any extra airflow controller. The design of XROS 3 mini looks like the 2nd version of XROS. The pods of mini are also magnetic just like XROS 3. If you place XROS 3 next to Caliburn A3, you will notice that the XROS 3 is bigger and larger. The A3 has a smaller battery and is a bit thinner in comparison to XROS 3.

Restricted Direct Lung and Mouth to Lung Vape – Vapor and Flavor Quality

Basically, all the way open airflow is supposed to be like a restricted direct lung hit vape. It is a tighter restricted direct lung hit vape. You can also use it for mouth to lung vaping but it might come a little too loose for that. Surprisingly you get a good amount of warmth even with the airflow wide open. If you close the airflow down to just the small airflow hole and vape, you will get a pretty loose mouth to lung draw. It works great even with the airflow closed all the way because you have two little airflow holes on the sides. You will get a medium to loose mouth to lung draw when the airflow control is completely closed. XROS 3 is very flavorful with a good amount of vapor and warmth. They give you the 0.6-ohm pod for RDL and 1-ohm coil for MTL. It vapes fantastic with free base e-liquids e.g 6mg to 12mg or something like that.

Pros and Cons

Basically, it is very similar to the last version and it is really hard to find any cons on this device. Some people prefer to disable the fire button but still be able to use the device in auto draw mode, XROS 3 does not have that option. When it is in your pocket, the button doesn’t get pressed easily but it would have been very nice to deactivate it completely. The shape of mouthpiece of these new pods is definitely an upgrade. It is more contoured, better for mouth to lung and more comfortable. The airflow control works great and is fairly similar to the last device that has a teardrop design. XROS 3 has an Axon chip with a pulse mode built in. One of the interesting feature of these new pods is that they could be used in the previous models, the pods of XROS 3 and XROS 2 are interchangeable. You could use the XROS pods inside this device, it’s cross compatible with the version 1, version 2 and now the version 3. Top fill is definitely a big pro for most of the users. You could do a restrictive direct lung, but it’s more of a MTL kit. You can use nic salts, your regular nicotine and so forth in this device. A lot of people don’t like to use nic salts in the lower ohms but it’s a matter of personal preference.
