GAC – 2.5″ Ceramic Grinder Black

The GAC Black and GC Black from Blue Bus Fine Tools are functionally and visually equivalent. Both are 4-piece grinders with aircraft-grade aluminum construction, food-safe ceramic interior coating, lion-style cutting teeth, rotation-locking magnetic lid, pollen screen, kief catcher, cleaning brush, pollen scraper, and gift packaging. Blue Bus engineered the GAC ceramic coating specifically to address two problems with earlier ceramic-coated grinders: peeling and inadequate non-stick performance. The GAC coating is formulated to adhere permanently to the aluminum substrate rather than being applied as a surface layer prone to delamination. It is also a food-safe formulation that does not transfer chemical compounds into herb during grinding. The non-stick performance is targeted at reducing the herb adhesion that causes ground material to cling to chamber walls rather than falling into the collection compartment — a problem that progressively worsens with bare aluminum grinders as resin builds up.

The ceramic coating on the interior grinding chamber and storage compartment significantly reduces the adhesion of even sticky, resin-heavy herb to the grinder walls. When sticky herb is processed in a bare aluminum grinder, the resin transfers to the metal surface immediately and builds with each session, making the grinding action progressively more resistant and causing ground herb to cling to the walls. In the GAC Black, the ceramic surface repels this adhesion from the first session, meaning sticky herb falls cleanly into the collection area more consistently and the grinding action remains smooth for longer between deep cleaning cycles.

A standard black aluminum grinder provides the familiar 4-piece grinding and kief collection workflow but with bare metal interior surfaces that accumulate resin progressively. The GAC Black adds the food-safe ceramic coating to all interior surfaces, which reduces that accumulation, keeps more herb in the collection chamber per session, and makes cleaning significantly easier. The rotation-locking lid further distinguishes the GAC by eliminating the thread-jamming failure mode of standard grinders. Separate all four pieces by opening the rotation-locking lid and unscrewing the lower sections. Use the cleaning brush to clear herb from the lion teeth and ceramic-coated walls. Harvest kief from the bottom chamber using the pollen scraper before soaking. Soak all aluminum and ceramic components in isopropyl alcohol for 20 to 30 minutes. Brush away dissolved residue, rinse with warm water, and dry completely before reassembling. The black matte exterior can be wiped with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads on the exterior to preserve the anodized finish.
